Are you a grower and wondered who decides the industry’s research, development and extension (RD&E) priorities? The good news is, it’s you! But how, you ask?

In a joint initiative led by the Rural Safety & Health Alliance (RSHA) - supported by CRDC - the Farming and Fatigue: Growing Sensible Solutions project aims to guide the ag industry to understand, measure and manage fatigue on-farm.

Most if not all of Australia's cotton growers are also grain growers - so we work very closely with our sister research and development (R&D) corporation, the Grains Research and Development Corporation, to deliver impactful R&D for our shared levy payers.

Three rising stars have just been announced as finalists in the CRDC Chris Lehmann Young Cotton Achiever Award by Cotton Australia: CRDC's Elsie Hudson, CottonInfo and QDAF's Sharna Holman, and HMAg's Alex Trinder.

Three CRDC-supported researchers have been named as finalists in the 2024 CSD Cotton Researcher of the Year Award by Cotton Australia: Dr Lisa Bird of NSW DPI, Dr Nicole McDonald of Central Qld University and Dr Alice Payne of RMIT.

Australia’s first cross-sectoral carbon accounting engine is now live - with support from CRDC – giving the agriculture, fisheries and forestry sectors a standardised approach to carbon accounting across a wide range of commodities including cotton.

"Stuart Armitage is getting bitten by spiders more and more as the years go on, but he doesn't mind — it's a small price to pay for progress at his Queensland cotton farm. Prior to 1996 Mr Armitage would have had a hard time finding a spider in his paddocks or on many other Australian cotton farms. Now the thousands of white bolls at his farm at Cecil Plains, 80 kilometres west of Toowoomba, are swarming with spiders of many sizes and colours and keeping other damaging insects in check."
