More than 2,400 grain and cotton growers and spray contractors across QLD and NSW have signed on to a world-first, Australian-developed weather data system to help minimise spray drift and limit the damage it causes to food and fibre crops and the environment.

After an extensive recruitment process, Dr Janelle Montgomery has been named as the new Program Lead for the Australian cotton industry’s extension program, CottonInfo.

We currently have five Expressions of Interest open for relevant research partners: Grassroots Grants, travel/conferences/scientific exchanges, Postgraduate Scholarships, Summer and Honours Scholarships, and human capacity research.

CRDC Chris Lehmann Cotton Young Achiever Awardee for 2023, fashion designer Emma Bond, has been named as a national finalist in the Victoria Racing Club's Melbourne Cup Carnival Fashions on the Field competition, wearing her own Australian cotton design.

WAND is a great tool, and a credit to CRDC, GRDC and Goanna Ag who've put it in the hands of growers. CRDC's Annual Report for 2022-23 is out today, demonstrating some major developments in Australian cotton RD&E, like the five-year CRDC, GRDC and Goanna Ag collaboration WAND, a ground-breaking project that has the potential to solve the spray drift challenge. It is estimated to have a benefit-cost ratio of $12.54 to $1 – $12.54 in benefit returned to growers for every one dollar invested via CRDC.
