Cotton growers, researchers, Cotton Australia, CRDC and GRDC participated in the Northern Australia Roadshow this week.
More than 70 people - including CRDC's General Manager of R&D Investment, Dr Ian Taylor - participated in the tour of the Ord River Irrigation Scheme near Kununurra, in far northern Western Australia, which included a visit to Kimberly Agriculture Investments' (KAI) stage 2 Ord development. KAI this year planted 350 hectares of cotton, and has plans to further expand cotton production to a viable northern industry.
Cotton Australia Chair, Simon Corish, presented to delegates re Cotton Australia's role; while QDAF's Dr Paul Grundy presented on his CRDC-funded research; and GRDC Chair John Woods presented on research ideas and cross-sectoral industry issues, such as spray drift.
The Roadshow was supported by Northern Australia Food Futures, the Australian Government's Office of Northern Australia and NT Farmers.
