Winter Spotlight shines light on cotton's people (2 July 2014)

The Winter edition of CRDC’s quarterly magazine, Spotlight, focuses on the people within the Australian cotton industry: our number one asset.

In this edition, meet some of the people making great strides for our industry - like Dr Alison McCarthy, a young researcher developing an integrated image system for soil-water and nitrogen levels in cotton, and the winner of the Science and Innovation for Young People in Agriculture Awards; or like Dr Sharon Downes, a scientist with CSIRO Ecosystems Sciences at ACRI and cotton's next participant in the Australian Rural Leadership Program.

In this special 'People' feature, Spotlight outlines some of the ways CRDC is working with industry to address workforce needs and improve human capacity - to ensure the industry has the right people to stay at the top of its game in cotton production. Read more about CRDC's People investment program and the work underway in upskilling our current people, as well as attracting and retaining new, talented people to the industry. Learn about the recent PhD student tour, meet the current Future Cotton Leaders Program participants, hear from the industry's current Nuffield Scholar, and find out how to apply for a Grassroots Grant - and much more!
