CottonInfo, the Australian cotton industry’s joint extension program, is under the leadership of a new program manager, Warwick Waters.
Warwick brings extensive experience in extension and research to the CottonInfo team, having worked within agriculture as an advisor, project manager and researcher for many years.
Warwick worked as a dairy advisor and project manager within Queensland DPI for 14 years, before moving to New Zealand to take up a research and development role in the social research team at AgResearch. In 2008, Warwick moved back to Queensland and started Waters Consulting, where he conducted research on the adaption of technology and development of people resources, and provided training for rural professionals.
Warwick brings these skills in research, development and extension into the program manager role with CottonInfo – a program dedicated to providing the latest research outcomes and findings direct to cotton growers.
From today, Warwick will lead the 25-strong CottonInfo team, which includes on-ground regional development officers across the cotton growing valleys, researchers who are technical specialists in their specific fields and myBMP best management practice support staff. Warwick, whose role is funded by CRDC, will be based in Toowoomba.
CottonInfo is a joint initiative of Cotton Australia, Cotton Seed Distributors and CRDC. It is a unique industry partnership that aims to communicate the outcomes of research, encourage grower adoption and improve industry practices.
