NSW Energy Minister visits cotton industry (8 July 2015)

Cotton Australia today hosted the NSW Energy Minister, the Hon. Anthony Roberts MP, on a tour of Narrabri's cotton growing region. The tour included time on-farm with cotton growers, and a visit to the Australian Cotton Research Institute (CRDC) where the Minister met with CRDC's General Manager of R&D, Dr Ian Taylor and NSW DPI's principal research scientist and ACRI director, Dr Robert Mensah.

Ian Taylor spoke to the Minister about energy consumption on Australian cotton farms, and CRDC's investments into projects to help maximise energy use efficiency.

The Minister said of his visit: "I had the privilege of exploring the wonderful cotton industry around the Narrabri region today. Vast technological advancements are driving productivity in this vitally important industry and in turn is having a significant positive impact on the regional economy. This is yet another great example of Government and industry working together to create some really positive synergy."
