CRDC’s Grassroots Grants program is running again in 2014-15, and applications for funding are now open! The Grassroots Grants program encourages groups of cotton growers, through their local Cotton Grower Associations (CGAs), to apply for funding to support capacity building projects in their region.
CRDC has committed $75,000 to the program in 2014-15, with CGAs able to apply for up to $10,000 in funding for projects aimed at increasing the engagement of growers in the industry, solving specific regional issues and improving their skills, knowledge base and networks.
Since the program started in 2011, it has supported 26 projects across the cotton growing valleys, aimed at building capacity. Projects have been diverse – from grower field trips (like the Rugby and Research Tour hosted by CottonInfo in the Namoi last year), to training programs (including forklift and first aid training courses), to community support programs (such as mental health empowerment days).
Applications for the 2014-15 round open today, 1 July, and close on 30 November 2014. Funding may be provided on a first-in, first-served basis, so be sure to contact Sally Hunter, program coordinator, on 0459 944 778 to discuss your project and receive the guidelines and application form.
